Amazing Migrant Workers -Why We All Need To Care.

We all know that the care sector across the UK faces huge challenges in recruiting and retaining the right staff.

A combination of factors ranging from the increased numbers needed to support our ageing population, as we tend to live longer in the UK; to more people needing care younger, particularly as the number of those living with Dementia symptoms in their 50's is increasing rapidly.

Then there is the fact that our working population are much more mobile than they used to be, with many moving away from home areas to study or work, and often both, so unable to easily support loved ones and family on a regular basis.

Then unfortunately we have to face the fact that many just aren't prepared to support those in their families or communities who need care. The digital world has made a much more selfish and self-obsessed lifestyle completely acceptable. It is now almost normal for many to value time on their devices on social media 'because they are worth it' (whether they actually are or not), over giving some of that time to caring for others around them. When did you last do something unsolicited for an elderly relative or neighbour? If not for a while, then put your phone down right now and go and do something for a neighbour or a family member, who you know would love to see you or hear from you. Do that once every day and you will make a small but positive impact at next to no cost in time and energy to you personally.

So nagging aside, why are Migrant Worker's so important to the Care Sector. It's very simple, because they offer us skilled individuals, enthusiastic and often also much more culturally inclined to both value and want to care for those in our society who need to be supported.

Honeypot Creative are delivering a series of films to highlight the incredible value of these brilliant incomers to British society, through our work for the amazing Wendy Adams from the amazing Skills for Care organisation.

Please watch this space to see more and to understand, with no bias, why we absolutely need the skills, passion and commitment to this massively undervalued sector. I have been amazed by the stories I have been told, and here are some of the fantastic people you will meet working for care providers Hillcare Group in the forthcoming releases, and who I would also like to thank for caring for so many in our region.
